Fitness Goals For The New You!
Happy New Year! You know how it goes; we start out a new year with fitness goals, to be healthy and fit. I can’t stand the whole new year’s resolution list, I preferred setting goals that I know will get accomplished, rather than a resolution list. When you set a goals list, it gets more accomplished because is based on what’s actually good for you and that you will be able to stick to it.
Why I don’t do Resolution List
I use to be one of those girls that’ll make a resolution list which literally lasted me three weeks tops. Like many of us, during the third week of January, we lose interest in our so call resolution list. When those fitness goals are based on long-term ideas of how we want to look those goals quickly fall through in a matter of months, weeks, and even days. It is why I’d like to suggest a different type of Resolution in sharing tips on how to start your fitness goals for the new year to help you get a kick start.

Planner
The first thing I like to do is get is a planner, I’m old school and I need to physically write all my agenda, to-do list, appointments, and goals. This is the only way I can stay focused and on top of the daily agenda, especially as a busy mom, you need more than a calendar planner.

Fitness and Health
As we said goodbye to 2021, for some of us health & fitness is on top of our “ Resolution” list. We all see, how aggressively crowded the gym is during the first two weeks in January. But during the first week in February the crowd starts dying down and once March rolls in the gym are back to normal. For those that made a resolution list, you want to do so much at once and quickly find yourself losing motivation. Once you lose motivation you are back to where you first started still making a list or starting on Monday. Aim for setting goals one at a time, you’ll feel that you’ll be achieving more by picking the right actions. It will keep you motivated because of all the effort you’re putting into achieving your goal. As for busy moms, we sure would love to make time for the gym, but let’s face it is easier said than done. For some of us is very difficult to even attempt to join and actually go to the gym. Therefore you need you set your fitness goals based on your lifestyle. Here are a few tips;
- Write down your fitness goals on what you want to achieve.
- Be patient, Take your time to achieve your fitness goals. (remember it’s not going to happen overnight) but don’t give up. Life will throw you curve balls that you will easily find yourself giving up but don’t.
- Have a fitness backup plan, as I call it. Whether you get stuck at work you feel too tired to work out and to go to the gym have a backup plan to make up for the workout. Resist bands work best for a quick full-body workouts.
- Always write & plan your workouts for the day rather than just stick to the basics. The first week of January all the gyms are packed and machines, and if you don’t have an alternative plan you can easily lose motivation.
- Remember to always consult your doctor before starting any physical activity or diet. What works for others might not work for you, ALWAYS consult your doctor.
If you are a busy mom, and don’t want to do the gym membership but are serious about getting fit there are ways you can achieve your fitness goal right at home. Consider starting a budget-friendly at-home gym, with a few basic pieces of equipment, like dumbells and resistance bands. YouTube offers FREE workouts from amazing fitness influencers if you can’t commit to a monthly gym membership.

Health
1. Get into a healthy nutrition plan, if you are going to do Keto or Paleo, please do the research on what it is about. I’ve seen many people jump into a diet that is not for them and they easily give up.
2. I know some of us are a bit stubborn in seeing a doctor, and is about that time. If you don’t see a doctor annually, go see one. I hate to say this but we live in such a toxic world that when it comes to illness it doesn’t discriminate by age, gender, or ethnicity. So go schedule your annual, physical, ob-gyn, and mammogram appointments. Health comes first. A great place to search for doctors in all fields is ZocDoc.
3. As a busy mom, is hard to get the healthy eating down pack because we might not have the time to hit the organic market or for some can be too far. If online shopping works for you, then you can order groceries from Wholefoods and Fresh.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2023!!!

Ever since I moved out on my own, I’ve done meal planning. It saves me money and space in my small apartment, which are the key factors for me. But it also helps me avoid junk food impulse buys and eating too many meals made up of convenience foods.
Saves MONEY.. Plus You know what you are eatin. With all the nasty thing you see on TV or even your own experiences eating out makes you think twice. I love meal planning because gets me to clean eating state of mind and not the snack junk food eating. Thanks for reading.

I need all the workout tips I can get. Lol. This is just one area I cannot (or will not?) fit into my schedule. I have tried to add a simple workout routine into my day before but I can’t seem to stick with it. Probably because I don’t make it a priority.
I’m not going to lie and say its easy because it’s not. Trust me I’ve been there, but if getting healthy is on your list make it part of your priority list. The trick to it is somehow incorporate it in your schedule, for ex: if you could only workout 3x a week pencil it in your schedule and stick to it. Once it becomes part of your daily or weekly routine is a matter of getting use it and you’ll see how it will become part of your must TO-DO list.
I love this post! I will be blogging about fitness on my blog too and found myself nodding along to everything you said. Particularly how busy the gym has been these first few weeks of 2019. I totally said the same thing about goals over resolutions. I have all of my fitness goals on my vision board and wrote specific goals on my phone’s note app. One of my big goals is to get my mile at or under 10 minutes! You are more likely to keep up with goals as long as it’s measurable. Great post!
Thank you for loving it. It’s ridiculous how packed the gym is nowadays, I have to drag myself to the gym because I don’t want to deal with the crowds. That’s awesome trying to get your mile at under 10 min. Good Luck, keep trying and don’t give up… When I use to run before I messed up my knee, what helped me with my running speed, the agility ladder. Something to think about….. Thank you so much for reading…
