Why Your Small Business Should use Canva
Designing graphics for your small business can be hard especially when you don’t know where to begin. People often get caught up in the glamour aspect of being an entrepreneur not realizing the day-to-day responsibilities one has. As a small business owner, you wear many hats, you are the CEO, account director, creator, marketing manager, shipping manager, photographer/social media manager, designer, inventory manager, assistant, and web designer. If you don’t have much experience in graphic design software like Photoshop illustrator, a Canva account is an absolute must-have, in my opinion. Nowadays with the world being a visual place, you need professional and high-quality images especially if you are just starting out, and Canva is the tool you need.
What is Canva?
Canva is an online graphic design software with a built-in drag-and-drop image builder to create beautiful designs. Why use Canva?
1. Canva is FREE
Canva has an unlimited FREE version with many useful features that allow you to try it out and see if is suitable for your small business. With the FREE version, you get access to hundreds of templates, icons, and stock photos right away. The only downfall of the free version is that it has restrictions and limitations on some features vs the Canva Pro. But it’s still perfect if you are using it for small design purposes and as a newbie trying out the software. Canva FREE version is great to start and is beginner-friendly.
Canva PRO
If you want to take your business and design experience to next level, I highly recommend investing in Canva Pro. You can compare features from the FREE version and Canva Pro version and see if is suitable for your business. Upgrading to the Canva Pro you have access to many more templates and designing tools options. When I started my blog I tried out the Free account and within two days upgraded to Canva Pro. You can try Canva Pro for small businesses FREE for 30 days.
2. Brand Kit
With the Canva Pro Plan, you will be able to design your Brand Kit. Brand Kit is huge for small businesses and you will be able to create professional and branded designs for your business. . A Brand Kit is a guide and resource that goes over all the details of your brand and visualized your identity. It contains important visual elements and essential assets like your logo(s), color palette, font(s), and illustrations. What I love about this feature once it’s created and saved, and you create a new design all your brand colors and fonts will be ready for you to use on every project.
You also have the ability to upload your custom fonts or choose ones you’ll use frequently. You can upload several of your own fonts and when creating new designs you can change them at any time.
3. FREE Stock Photo
Canva media library comes in both free stock photos and premium media that makes your designs super easy with photos at your disposal. But as always whenever you are using stock photos always read the terms and agreements. The free plan offers media to those that don’t have a subscription to the Pro plan, but these stock pictures are limited. Premium: Canva Pro users offer more media to access such as stock photos, fonts, video, and graphics elements. You can customize your designs with your own brand colors, background removal tool, and photo filters, how awesome is that?

4. Canva Team
Canva Team you can share designs and images with team members by inviting them via email or link. You can invite friends, family, and team members to Canva and collaborate together on any designs. There are two types of teams available in Canva: free teams and Canva Pro teams.
5. Content Planner
I saved the best for last! Canva’s new content planner is a brand NEW feature and it’s amazing, it allows you to plan, design, and schedule your social media posts all in one place, without leaving Canva. This feature is a PLUS especially if you are just starting out and trying to get recognized while establishing your brand. This feature is only available for Canva Pro version, and you can schedule and plan all your post on all your social media platform (Facebook Page, Facebook Group, Pinterest, Instagram, Twitter, and Linkedin)
I love Canva and I’ve been using it since I started my blog and is my #1 go-to for my Pinterest graphics.
