It’s, almost back-to-school season, and getting back into the swing of things is not that easy. Especially for this coming school year that we don’t know what to expect. In NYC there is a plan that was put in place, but like everything else with COVID-19 Pandemic they still don’t know. I’m sure with many states that has been force to re-closed every parent is wondering, whats going to happen with school. One thing I learned during the pandemic is that many things are out of our control.

We all experienced how the mid March- 2019-2020 school year proceeded with remote learning/homeschooling. Now in an unprecedented way— how will this new school year be? Many students will have to face new health protocols, physical distancing, and much more. As other states are experiencing a spike in Covid-19 cases, the 2020-21 school year will not be like any other. With the new adjustments, that we have to follow I decided to update this post and share 10 Busy Mom’s Hacks For Back To School that can simplify your daily routine.
I’m old-fashioned and I still use planners where I physically write down my task, deadlines and mark the calendar for important dates. It’s a habit I still haven’t been able to break to just rely on the trusty iPhone planner. I find that using a paper planner keeps me super effective to stay on top of everything I need to do. One of the best planners, I use is “The Happy Planner”. I love this planner because I can customize to my liking for my daily task, and everything else to keep this busy momma sane. Let’s face it you know how crazy busy a mom’s life gets once school starts. Once I get the school calendar for the year, I start writing all those important dates, tests, class schedules and appointments. If you just need a plain old planner stick with the basic with the weekly and monthly.
As a busy mom always on the go, life can get crazy and we tend to forget things especially the hubby. I love the idea of the Magnetic Fridge Dry Erase Board. Since my husband and I work different schedule I like to write him reminders where to be after he gets out of work. With work and all the after school sports activities it can get crazy which we can easily forget. If the fridge don’t work for you, then you can use a White board /corkboard to write reminders and important date.
If you’re looking for organization for homework days, create a portable Homework Station. I always go to The Dollar Tree and rack up on their baskets and containers of all sizes because this is the time to buy all sorts or organizing containers. Amazon also has cute desk organizers that you can buy. If you are limited space, the three tier cart is great for a portable homework station. Pick up extra school supplies when buying the items in your kiddos list for the school year.
- Extra Pencils
- Extra Pens
- Extra Crayons
- Extra Scissors
- Extra Markers
You can add more supplies that your kiddos will use throughout the school year. I loved this idea because sometimes my kiddo likes to do homework in our dining room or at our kitchen bar. It makes homework time a little easier to start and finish.
Create a lunch & snack station and it will solve all matter of lunch-making crises. If you want to get creative yo can use plastic food storage with divider. You can create one in the pantry or lower part of the cabinet and space in the refrigerator. If you are limited space you can use the stackable food storage. You can fill each basket with snacks and lunch items. You can sort everything a week before to make easier. If you have pre-schoolers and older kids, you can teach them to grab and go what they want to take to school.
LunchBox Accessories
The one thing that every mom groan with dread, is to make school lunches. I can raise my hand to that because I’m one of those moms that quiver with the thought of packing lunch. I have a picky eater, so it makes it a bit challenging to pack my kiddo lunch. He doesn’t like eating school lunch so I have to be creative and make sure he eats when it’s lunchtime.
I got this for my son who is a picky eater, and hated a lot of different kind of food. So whenever I made him a sandwich I used the shape cutout and he loved it. What I love about this set is that you can cut out Fruits and veggies and they would not know they are eating it.

Portable Blender is perfect for smoothies or protein drinks on the go. Sometimes as a busy mom on the go you don’t have to to make breakfast. This is perfect you just throw your fruits, veggies and protein powder and take your breakfast on the go.
I saw this idea, on Pinterest and ever since I SIMPLY loved it. Created a “Need To Sign Station” for your kids. Once school starts your child comes home with tons of paperwork that has to be looked over and sign. If you’re a busy mom and have multiple kids handing you stacks of paperwork believe me they can easily get lost in the clutter Desk Organizer or the File Folder Sorter with Basket makes the mounds of paperwork easy to deal with than having your kids just throw it on the kitchen counter. As a busy mom always on the go, you have to have some sort of organization set up to make life easier and less stressful. You can assign each child their own slot to put their paperwork when they come home from school.
For a mom thats always on the go, this back seat organizer comes in handy. With all the after school sports and activities sometimes you don’t have time to go back home and pack on the road items. You can store school supplies on the go, snacks and toys for the younger one.
Great organizer, to keep your kids sports equipment all in one place. I found this Trunk organizer kept my son sport equipment intact. I keep extra, clothes, water, snacks and other accessories that I might need while Im on the road with my kiddo.
For this school year coming up, for my son uniforms, backpack and school clothes. He has a habit, that when comes home from school he would throw his backpack on floor, shoes in the middle of room and his uniform all over the place. I couldn’t take it, so I decided to purchase this 5 cubes open shelf. Now I can organize his backpack, shoes and uniform all in one place. I can easily place his uniform and clothes for the weeks all in one place for my kiddo to grab and place neatly organized.
I hope these ideas have been super helpful to start the school year organized. I know that the hard part will be to implement them. I can assure you, that if you start the school year organize and implementing a system that works, You will be amazed at how smoothly your days and school year will run.
